چکیده

The lithium-pilocarpine (Li-Pc) model of status epilepticus (SE) is most convenient and frequently used for pathophysiological management strategies in search new, safe effective therapeutic agents including the natural remedies SE. Oral administration cinnamon (CIN) curcumin (CUR) can reduce neuroinflammation which a common feature neurodegenerative disorders. Although many studies on CUR effects SE has been undertaken, to our best knowledge no study conducted studying effect CIN present explores neuroprotective food products Li-Pc induced rats. was experimental rats using lithium – pilocarpine model. Besides control groups, animals were also grouped as treatment groups received pre-treatment before induction severity seizures, cognitive dysfunctions, oxidative stress parameters estimated forebrain tissue all group animals. Treatment with significantly ameliorated frequency epileptic seizures dose-dependent manner. dysfunctions well indices (enzymatic non-enzymatic) dosedependently by order CUR<CIN parameters. Possible application antiepileptic antioxidant great potential warrants further

Oxidative stress mediates hippocampal neuron death in rats after lithium–pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus

Oxidative stress, which is defined as the over-production of free radicals, can dramatically alter neuronal function and has been linked to status epilepticus (SE). The pathological process and underlying mechanisms involved in the oxidative stress during SE are still not fully clear. In the current study, SE was induced in rats by lithium-pilocarpine administration. Our data show that hippocam...

Effect of Argemone mexicana (L.) against lithium-pilocarpine induced status epilepticus and oxidative stress in Wistar rats.

Argemone mexicana (L.) has a role in the treatment of epileptic disorders in Indian traditional system of medicine. We studied its effect on induced status epilepticus (SE) and oxidative stress in rats. SE was induced in male albino rats by administration of pilocarpine (30 mg/kg, ip) 24 h after injection of lithium chloride (3 mEq/kg, ip). Different doses of the ethanol extract of A. mexicana ...

The Effects of Quinacrine, Proglumide, and Pentoxifylline on Seizure Activity, Cognitive Deficit, and Oxidative Stress in Rat Lithium-Pilocarpine Model of Status Epilepticus

The present data indicate that status epilepticus (SE) induced in adult rats is associated with cognitive dysfunctions and cerebral oxidative stress (OS). This has been demonstrated using lithium-pilocarpine (Li-Pc) model of SE. OS occurring in hippocampus and striatum of mature brain following SE is apparently due to both the increased free radicals production and the limited antioxidant defen...

Effect of Ethanol Extract of Indigofera tinctoria Linn (Fabaceae) on Lithium/Pilocarpine-Induced Status Epilepticus and Oxidative Stress in Wistar Rats

Purpose: Indigofera tinctoria Linn. of the Fabaceae family is claimed to be useful in the treatment of a variety of epileptic disorders in Indian traditional system of medicine. The present study was designed to verify this claim. Methods: Status epilepticus was induced in male albino rats of Wistar strain by administration of pilocarpine (30 mg/kg, i.p.) 24 h after injection of lithium chlorid...

Neuroprotective effect of lithium after pilocarpine-induced status epilepticus in mice

Status epilepticus is the most common serious neurological condition triggered by abnormal electrical activity, leading to severe and widespread cell loss in the brain. Lithium has been one of the main drugs used for the treatment of bipolar disorder for decades, and its anticonvulsant and neuroprotective properties have been described in several neurological disease models. However, the therap...
